2026-09-02 HEAR Journal: Psalm 119:11

A HEAR journal through Psalm 119:11: Highlight, Explain, Apply, Respond.

I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

Psalm 119:11 (ESV)

Explain

What does it mean?

The psalmist is talking about hiding God’s Word in his heart so that it shapes his desires and guards him from sin. In the context of Psalm 119, he is declaring his love for God’s Word and how it brings life, wisdom, and joy. This verse reminds me that memorizing and meditating on Scripture helps me live in alignment with God’s will.

Apply

How does it apply to my life?

Am I taking time each day to hide God’s Word in my heart? When I’m tempted to sin or take the easy way, I can turn to Scripture that I’ve stored up. I need to be intentional about reading, memorizing, and letting God’s Word shape my thoughts and actions.

Respond

Talk to God about it.

Thank you, Lord, for Your Word that guides, corrects, and protects me. Help me treasure it in my heart and live it out. Forgive me when I don’t. I love You and want to walk in Your truth. Amen.

HEAR Journals are a simple way to engage Scripture daily: Highlight the verse, Explain what it means, Apply it to your life, and Respond to God. This isn’t about checking boxes. It’s about drawing near to the One who desires to spend time with you. Share your own HEAR journal in the comments; let’s learn and grow together.
